How does thermal imager work?

2019-09-30

An infrared camera is a science that uses optoelectronic devices to detect and measure radiation and establish a correlation between radiation and surface temperature.

The movement of heat that occurs when radiant energy (electromagnetic waves) move without direct conduction of the medium. Modern infrared cameras work by using optoelectronic devices to detect and measure radiation and establish a correlation between radiation and surface temperature. All objects above absolute zero (-273 ° C) emit infrared radiation. The infrared camera uses an infrared detector and an optical imaging objective to receive the infrared radiation energy distribution pattern of the target to be reflected on the photosensitive element of the infrared detector, thereby obtaining an infrared thermal image, and the thermal distribution of the thermal image and the surface of the object The field corresponds. In general, an infrared camera converts invisible infrared energy emitted by an object into a visible thermal image. The different colors above the thermal image represent the different temperatures of the object being measured. By viewing the thermal image, the overall temperature distribution of the target can be observed, and the fever of the target can be studied to judge the next step.

Humans have been able to detect infrared radiation. The nerve endings in human skin can respond to temperature differences as low as ±0.009 ° C (0.005 ° F). Although the nerve endings of the human body are extremely sensitive, their construction is not suitable for non-destructive thermal analysis. For example, although humans can find warm blood prey in the dark by virtue of the animal's thermal perception, it may still be necessary to use better thermal testing tools. Due to the physical structural limitations of humans in detecting thermal energy, mechanical and electronic devices that are very sensitive to thermal energy have been developed. These devices are standard tools for checking thermal energy in a wide range of applications.

Equipment composition

The thermal imaging camera consists of 5 parts:

1. Infrared lens: receiving and concentrating infrared radiation emitted by the measured object;

2. Infrared detector assembly: converts the thermal radiation signal into an electrical signal;

3. Electronic components: processing electrical signals;

4. Display component: converts an electrical signal into a visible light image;

1. Software: Process the collected temperature data and convert it into temperature readings and images.
