In order to be able to fight in low-light environments or see the target clearly, most people will choose PVS-14 monocular night vision goggles or PVS-7 binocular night vision goggles.
This type of night vision device has two built-in image intensifier tubes, so the field of view is enhanced, so that a stereoscopic image field can be obtained. And binocular night vision can provide better night vision, but this does not increase the size of the field of view. Therefore, in order to obtain a better night vision experience and a wider night vision field than binocular night vision, this involves the protagonist of this article: ground panoramic night vision device, which is what we often call the four-eye night vision device.
With the development of new technology, MH has developed a new terrestrial panoramic night vision goggles, called MH-FNVP. The purpose of FNVP is to provide more information under the goggles to get him through the OODA loop (Observe, Orient, Decide, Act) faster. The most notable feature of the FNVP is the presence of four independent image intensifier tubes with four independent objective lenses arranged in a panoramic orientation.
The two lenses in the middle point forward like traditional double-barreled goggles, giving the user more depth perception, while the other two lenses are slightly outward from the center, so the panoramic night vision goggles are used to increase the perimeter vision. With the two tubes on the right and the two tubes on the left spliced into the eyepiece, users will find that the two central tubes overlap the two outer tubes somewhat, resulting in an unprecedented 120° field of view. But the original GPNVG-18 was only 97°.
The left and right tubes are mounted in a combined assembly and are suspended from a bridge to provide the user with the option of interpupillary adjustment. Plus, they can also be easily removed and operated as standalone handheld viewers, and the IPD of both systems can also be adjusted on the helmet.

Panoramic night vision goggles can be regarded as a set of binocular night vision goggles, but there are a set of lens barrels on both sides. Therefore, some people think that the effect of panoramic night vision can be simulated by adding a monocular night vision on the left and right sides of the conventional binocular night vision device. But in practice, doing so does not get the desired effect.
Actually, the field of view of the panoramic night vision device is not separated. In order to obtain a coherent field of view, the structure of the panoramic night vision device is quite compact, in which the two eyepieces are cut off a small part and placed closely to merge the two night vision fields of view, which is called eyepiece fusion.
