Car touch screen gesture control, reducing driver's attention to risk of dispersion

2019-04-01

According to reports, a pair of fathers and sons Ben-Etzion Yaron and Nissan Yaron in Jerusalem developed a technology that allows drivers to control music, call, view information and navigate while not leaving the road. The technology only needs to follow the direction of the driver's finger on the screen to understand what the driver wants to do. The father and son founded a six-person company, Inpris, in 2011.

The company has developed a technology called SIGHTLESS TOUCH, which is protected by seven patents in the US, China and South Korea that use finger movement detection and voice control to activate car commands.

The product InprisWay is derived from this technology and is built into the car hardware. In this technology, the driver can use two media: a shortcut system and a hybrid voice control system. The shortcut system is used to activate options that the driver often chooses, such as contacting people who are frequently talking or navigating to places that are frequently visited. Using the shortcut system, the driver simply places three fingers on the dashboard screen, each finger has a preset function: a control phone, a control navigation, and a control music. For example, if you want to listen to music, the driver simply puts a "music finger" (preset to the index finger) on the dashboard and removes the middle finger and ring finger. Then, the four radio options preset by the driver are immediately displayed on the screen.

The navigation and phone functions work the same way. The driver leaves a “navigation finger” or “telephone finger” on the screen and then four preset options appear. The driver simply swipes in the direction of the desired option (up, down, left, and right) to navigate to the way home or call a good friend. If the driver wants to use an option other than 4 presets, a hybrid voice control system can be used. First, the driver slides up, down, left, and right with two fingers, and depending on the direction in which the driver is sliding, the voice command will ask one of the questions about the four options.

The technology is designed to minimize the language output users need, because voice command technology is often used in cars, and drivers waste a lot of time getting the technology to understand what they mean, especially if there are children screaming or loud in the car. Hey words. Therefore, the problem raised by this technique is short and straightforward, and the driver only needs to answer with one or two words.

The difference between InprisWay and its competitors is that it does not require the user to click on a specific button on the dashboard like other systems. The system is completely directional, so the driver can slide anywhere on the screen to get the same results.

In May last year, Inpris signed an exclusive agreement with the Chinese technology company Shenzhen Yusitong Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd. (Asia Pacific), which is a Tier 1 supplier to automakers and will help automakers by April 2020. The company produces 1 million vehicles equipped with InprisWay. Currently, there are about 6,000 vehicles on the road equipped with this technology, some of which have built-in InprisWay and some are used in the aftermarket.
